XXI Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics are back. I just can’t wait to hear all of those cow bells. I also can’t wait for the snowboarding. The big name this Olympics in snowboarding Shaun White. He won the 2006 half pipe event, and he plans to repeat his actions again this year.

“It’s all about being creative” says Shaun. I follow skateboarding And he has a trick titled “The Armadillo”. It is a combination of a heel flip varial and a frontside 540. In other words it is really hard. If he can apply his creativity that he uses in skateboarding to snowboarding, I’m pretty he will be able to hold his title.

I have always liked the Winter Olympics. I can even remember the first time I saw it. The first athlete I saw was Apollo Uno. Ever since then I have always watched speed skating. I hope he wins this year.

Robert Gates trip to Aghanistan

“We will never turn our back”. These words are from Secretary of defense Robert Gates. He was saying that Americans will never turn our back on Afghanistan. He said this while on an unannounced trip to Afghanistan. This surprised me since Afghanistan is an active war zone. A combination of 43 nations will be sending 37,000 plus troops into the country.

While in Afghanistan, Gates explained about Obamas plan to send 30,000 troops. He did not say anything about the withdrawal of troops. I appreciate that he didn’t talk about the withdrawal. I don’t believe that you should announce any sort of withdrawal, especially if the enemy can get a hold of that sort of information. Troops will begin to  withdraw during 2011. After that it is up to Afghanistan forces to try to take control of the terrorist threat.

I’m really glad that Robert Gates made the trip. Hopefully it boosted the morale of the troops.

Pirates!

They did it again. They hijacked another boat. It gets really interesting this time. The Somali pirates hijacked a North Korean ship this time. I really want to see how this ends.

The Somali pirates are beginning to become a big problem. Since there is no form of true government in Somalia, there is nothing to stop the pirates. The people that run Somalia are part of factions that fight against each other. The pirates are probably their main source of income. That is if they succeed in collecting a ransom.

This article interests me because the ship is from North Korea. I really want to see what happens if they get involved. What actions wold they take? How would they pay the ransom? I hope that the conflict resolves itself.

People need to grow up

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. I have lived by these words for as long as I can remember. If you get cyberbullied it’s okay to tell someone to try to get them to stop, but to cry about it. How old are you people!? I don’t know why you can’t ignore the person. Mark them as spam or something. I just can’t bring myself to believe that people are suffering from depression from cyber bullying.

People complain that former friends post their deepest shared secrets on Facebook and, basically share their secrets with the world. They also say that they gave their former friends their password for their facebook page. How stupid do you have to be to give someone your password!? Thats personal information that only YOU need to know. Thats like walking down the street i giving someone your social security number.

I can understand being scared and telling someone if a cyberbully goes as far as sending you a death threat. I guess the bully would cyberbully someone to be mean, but i don’t think people give actual death threats. This passage taken from the weekly reader proves my point. “I wish a car would hit Anna and she would die”. This seems more like a death wish to me. Some people who are cyber bullied go as far as killing themselves. What type of person would end their life because someone called them names OVER THE INTERNET!? It is just so crazy that a person would do that. It doesn’t even make sense. If someone sends you a death wish, why would you give them the satisfaction of ending your life. Why not try to just IGNORE THEM! IT IS SO UNBELIEVABLY SIMPLE! The fact that 24 kids have ended their life because if cyberbullying is ridiculous and unbelievable. people need to grow up.

Saturn’s new ring.

Scientist have found a new ring on the planet Saturn. Only this one is COLOSSAL. One billion earths would be needed to fill this giant of a ring. The width of the ring is 7.4 million miles. Scientists believe that the particles from one Saturn’s moons is what’s making the ring.

Scientist Anne Verbiscer is the person who discovered this ring. She used the Spitzer telescope to do this. The telescope is about the size of a car and detects things in space by measuring it’s temperature. The temperature of this Goliath of a ring was negative 316 degrees. I’m not sure how the telescope works, but I do want to know how the telescope measures temperature.

This find is an interesting one. I just think that the ring is smaller than the scientists say it is. I wouldn’t trust something that has to measure a temperature millions of miles away since the satellite is orbiting around the sun. I don’t think anything is that accurate, especially since the telescope is trying to measure its temperatre. you would think that the sun would interfere with that.

HEE HEE!

Even though he is dead, Micheal Jackson is still making money. On the first day, “This is It” has already made 2.2 million dollars. It seems like he just can’t stop breaking records. The film is such a big deal that it is showing in over 90 countries. Reviewers said that “Everyone was screaming Micheal’s name, clapping, and singing along.”

This past summer Micheal Jackson died. If you didn’t know this, you don’t get out much, or watch t.v. I’m sure that there are aliens somewhere that know about his death. The movie itself is about all of M.J’s rehearsals before his death. The movie is filmed as a documentary. In my opinion, the movie is like Micheal performing for the audience in the movie theater.

I didn’t realize that the movie would be this big of a deal. Tickets were selling out like crazy. I don’t think i will go see the movie, because I’m a not a Micheal Jackson fan. I want to know where the money will go to. I’m not sure if the money will go to the Jackson family, or if it will go to the director of the movie.

Worst spy ever

Espionage reached its climax during the cold war. Apparently, someone tried to get it back on its feet. Sewart David Nozotte was caught trying to sell secrets to the Israeli government. He sold these secrets to an undercover FBI agent. He left the secrets in a “dead drop box” just like in the movies! HOW STUPID ARE YOU TO DO WHAT YOU SEE IN THE MOVIES! HE WAS SO STUPID.

El stupido got these secrets because he used to work for the government. He was part of the National Space Council. He also had a TOP SECRET CLEARANCE! IF  YOU ARE SMART ENOUGH TO WORK FOR THE NATIONAL SPACE COUNCIL, WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO SELL SECRETS! He also worked for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. The spy received a total amount of 225,000 dollars for his secrets. To bad that he didn’t get to spend any of it.I personally would have asked for more.

There is only one word that can describe this man. Sad. If your going to sell secrets to a foreign government, you should probably do it right the first time. I have no sympathy for this man at all. I think we should somehow brainwash him and then exile him to a desert island. H could also get a life sentence.

T-rex’s minime

While digging in Mongolia, scientists found a tiny t-rex. They named this new fossil raptorex kriegsteini. I’m going to call him Reptor. Reptor is believed to be an ancestor to the much larger t -rex. Reptor is nine feet tall and weighs 150 pounds. The t-rex is 40 feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds.

Scientist can concur that the Reptor is the t-rexs’s ancestor. Scientists can this because the dinosaurs both have short arms. Paleontologists first thought was that the t-rex descended from smaller dinosaurs with smaller arms. That is why this is “a very significant find”, says Thomas Holtz. Scientist also believe that Reptor had feathers similar to an ostrich.

I don’t think that this a new species of dinosaur. I think it is just a baby t-rex. I don’t see why no one thought that it could be a baby  t-rex. I also think that there would be more than one fossil if this is a new species. I’m also wondering how something that is nine feet tall evolve into a 40 feet tall monster.

Amelia Earhart

Amelia Earhart is an amazing person and aviator. She said she wanted to be a vagabond of the air. She has completed amazing achievements. She was the first woman to cross the atlantic by air. After that, she became the first woman to fly across the atlantic. She organized the first women’s air derby. I think she spent more time in the air than on the ground.

Ameila Earhart was a very courageous woman. She did things that people never thought of doing. In my opinion she was foolish. She had what I like to call Attention Addiction. She had already done so much, but she wanted to fly around the world. That’s where she went wrong. She pushed her limits and her limits pushed back harder.  Her limits pushed her so hard that she died.

Ameila did great things for the world of aviation. I don’t think that they are big enough to make a movie about them. I’m saying that what did is overrated, I just don’t find them to big of a deal. People make and break records all of the time. Why is aviation so important? Why not talk about boats, trains or rockets?

China The Next Generation

China is an interesting country. Mainly because of the great food they have. Also they have the biggest population in the world. They might even pass us economically. Why you might ask? So many people are now getting a better education which allows them to get better jobs. This allows them to make more money and it brings China more business.

China’s teenagers have a lot of pressure on them. One thing that causes this pressure is their family name. Another is getting into a good school. Their families tell them that all of their hope rests on their shoulders. they promise to give them presents, like cars, if they get into the best schools.

I think China’s parents are putting way to much pressure on their kids. It is important to get into good schools, but Telling them that their family name rests on their shoulders is to much. If my parents told me that, I would go insane trying to do everything perfectly. I’m kind of interested to see what happens if the children don’t get into a top school.
